    NetDecision 5.6 (codename: Sky) has been released

    NetDecision 5.6 Release Notes

    All

    • The product is now fully compatible with Windows 10! All applications and features were thoroughly tested and all test cases are passed.
    • The new great looking MS Office 2016-style visual theme is now supported with the following visual styles:
      • Colorful (set as default in all applications). The application frame and Ribbon bar top area are rendered using the accent color.
      • Dark gray. The most application colors are dark gray and accent color is being used very rarely.
      • White. This theme is very similar to Office 2013 white theme.
    • The SNMP OCTET STRING is now fully UTF-8 compliant in NetDecision SNMP framework implementation
    • The SNMP Display Hint formatter is now fully UTF-8 compliant. It does properly handle UTF-8 DisplayString’s now.
    • The NXMP protocol is now fully UTF-8 compatible
    • All NetDecision XML based file formats (CMF, TPL, TRP, NPF, TSH, SAS, TVL, LVL, USM, NDLOG, NALPDEPLOY) and all configuration files are now fully UTF-8 compatible
    • The bug related to context menu in MIB Object Selection dialog window has been fixed
    • The set of standard NetDecision file types and filters have been unified across all applications. Unnecessary All Files (*.*) option has been removed where not applicable.
    • All NetDecision applications now implement inline error handling for validating form data (text boxes)
    • All NetDecision applications now implement cue, or tip, that is displayed by the edit control (inline) to prompt the user for information.

    LaunchPad

    • The Add New Agent functionality now has better error handling
    • The Add New Agent functionality now checks if the agent GUID is not unique
    • The Add New Agent functionality now checks if the agent admin port is already in use by other app
    • Fixed bug when the tile color indicating status of elements in main view was improperly reset after appearance settings have changed.
    • The tiles rounded corners are now disabled by default to fit modern flat look and feel.

    Performance Vision

    • The problem related to layout configuration settings has been fixed
    • The web interface now implements improved support of SVG in web browsers including IE. Now there is no need to install Adobe SVG plugin for IE. All modern version of IE do support SVG out of the box.
    • The web interface is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The web interface now uses XHTML namespace to be in full accordance with web standards
    • The duplicate dashboard element bug has been fixed
    • The custom OID wizard now supports displaying of integer enumeration and BITS MIB object types

    Smart Agent

    • The SNMP Traps part of Smart Agent has been completely reengineered. The Smart Agent now automatically configures all generic traps and all enterprise specific traps from currently loaded MIB file based on trap definitions from this MIB file. The Smart Agent now provides the powerful inline grid-based SNMP Traps Editor.
    • The Smart Agent now fully supports BITS MIB syntax type (for scalar and table objects, including automatic value generation according to MIB definition). BITS is a pseudo data type that specifies a collection of labelled bits. It provides a way to label individual bits in an octet (an extension of OCTET STRING type). For the user convenience there is a brand new graphical BITS editor.
    • The bug when the user specified auto-save interval was ignored has been fixed.
    • The Smart Agent now supports the default bind address to support network addresses that change dynamically
    • The Smart Agent now properly applies changes made upon save
    • The Smart Agent now automatically changes unique agent identifier on Save As
    • The bug related to incorrect handling of End of MIB in Get-Bulk handler has been fixed
    • The Smart Agent now sets modified flag on Set requests. So the automatic save functionality can save these changes.
    • The Smart Agent now properly selects tree node in MIB Workspace when new configuration is loaded
    • Several bugs in Get-Next algorithm have been fixed
    • The Smart Agent settings validation has been significantly improved.
    • The bug in table row deletion algorithm has been fixed
    • The Smart Agent now generates proper MAC addresses for MIB objects of type PhysAddress
    • The performance of SNMP data capturing/recording has been significantly improved
    • The performance of SNMP data importing has been significantly improved
    • The bug in random value generation algorithm has been fixed
    • The MIB walk (capturing) window now shows detailed stats including objects per second.
    • Expanded/Collapsed tree icons are now different to indicate tree item state (similar to MIB Browser)
    • The Smart Agent now shows an error message if automatic save of app log is enabled but log file path is not specified

    SNMP User Manager

    • The list of user profiles in main application view can now be sorted by clicking on target column

    MIB Manager

    • The MIB Object Properties window functionality has been extended to simplify copying of Name, OID and Description to Clipboard.
    • Ctrl-C shortcut is now working properly in MIB Object Properties window
    • The MIB Manager now allows the user to manage precompiled MIB definitions. The precompiled MIB data configuration repository is located in C:\ProgramData\NetDecision\Config\CommonPrecompiledMibData.cfg (XML file)

    MIB Browser

    • The MIB Object Properties window functionality has been extended to simplify copying of Name, OID and Description to Clipboard.
    • Ctrl-C shortcut is now working properly in MIB Object Properties window
    • The duplicate entry bug in Agent Bar has been fixed
    • The values in MIB table window are now formatted using Display Hint if specified
    • The MIB Browser now supports BITS MIB syntax type. BITS is a pseudo data type that specifies a collection of labelled bits. It provides a way to label individual bits in an octet (an extension of OCTET STRING type). The user can also use BITS editor to set/alter value of this type (accessed directly from SET window).
    • The bug in MIB Walk Engine related to incorrect End Of MIB detection has been fixed

    Network Manager

    • The Notification Properties Bar now uses dynamic splitter between Attributes list and notification variables list
    • The configuration of columns (order, width, visible columns) of All Notifications and Element Notifications grids/tables is now properly saved/loaded.
    • The Network Manager now implements in-memory cache for incoming SNMP notifications (traps and informs) while DB loading is in progress to prevent conflicts and unpredicted behavior including application crashes when user works with notifications (acknowledge, clear, etc)
    • The Notification Properties window no longer flickers when the user reselects the notification which is currently selected
    • The Element Properties window no longer flickers when the user reselects the Managed Element (ME) which is currently selected
    • The Element Properties window now updates the information if currently selected element has been deleted.
    • The Element Properties window now updates the information if currently selected element is unselected using Ctrl + Left Mouse Click
    • The Network Manager now selects next ME in current layer in main application view if currently selected ME has been deleted in full correspondence with Workspace Bar behavior
    • The Network Manager now stores and restores custom zoom level for each layer in topology for user convenience
    • The user is now capable of specifying comments when toggling maintenance mode
    • The bug when element status was keep changing while element is in maintenance state has been fixed.
    • The updated maintenance state is now displayed in Element Properties window if changed.
    • The Network Manager now properly zooms out/in text font on diagrams.
    • The Level Gauge text is now aligned vertically if gauge has vertical alignment
    • The Network Manager now uses proper image if the image was selected after Physical/Logical mode was set
    • The SNMP notifications drop list in Comparator Configuration window is now automatically populated with Element specific SNMP traps. So there is no need to open specific MIB file in order to select target SNMP traps. Also the Value Comparator drop list is now automatically populated with the list of possible values if the target MIB Object is of integer enumeration type.
    • The Network Manager now supports BITS SNMP data type. For the user convenience the Value Comparator has built-in graphical BITS editor.
    • The diagram zooming functionality has been significantly improved
    • The Network Manager now provides the user with stats information for SNMP traps/informs (based on severity value) similar to TrapVision
    • The Network Manager now implements Easy Handler functionality similar to TrapVision
    • The severity selector in Trap Handlers configuration window is now colored based on severity color for the user convenience
    • All severity selectors in Application Settings window are now colored based on severity color for the user convenience

    Parameter Editor

    • The duplicate entry bug in integer enumeration configuration window has been fixed
    • SNMP PDU editor and SNMP Varbind editor are now deprecated
    • The list of parameters in main application view can now be sorted by clicking on target column

    Trap Simulator

    • The Trap Simulator now has a wizard. The Trap Simulator wizard is used to simplify the process of creating trap simulation scenarios. The wizard allows the user to automatically add and configure generic traps and SNMP notifications defined in target MIB file.
    • The layout of the Trap Editor window has been improved
    • The Trap Editor window is now themed
    • The MIB Object Properties window functionality has been extended to simplify copying of Name, OID and Description to Clipboard.
    • The Trap Simulator now supports MIB objects (variables) of integer enumeration type. All possible values are now listed in value combo-box (PDU Varbinds Editor grid)
    • The Trap Simulator now supports BITS MIB object type. There is a new special grid cell type with built-in BITS editor.
    • The PDU Varbinds Editor is now fully inline. The configuration of variable bindings can now be edited just like you edit MS Excel spreadsheet.
    • For the user convenience the Name column has been added to PDU Varbinds Editor
    • The PDU Varbinds Editor now checks for duplicate entries
    • The Trap Simulator now automatically generates and appends row indexes to variable bindings OIDs if they are table columns. The indexes are generated according to MIB definitions.
    • The set of SNMP notifications from currently loaded MIB file is now listed in Notification Name field (located on General page)
    • The Trap Simulator now automatically generates and populates trap variable bindings according to their MIB definition when selection in Notification Name field (located on General page) changes (including generic traps LinkUp/LinkDown)
    • The information displayed in Properties Bar for currently selected SNMP notification has been significantly extended
    • The list of SNMP notifications in main application view can now be sorted by clicking on target column

    LogVision

    • The LogVision now generates UTF-8 compliant HTML(web) reports
    • The SysLog receiver and parser is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The LogVision now shows an error message if automatic save of app log is enabled but log file path is not specified

    TrapVision

    • The SNMP Trap/Inform Detailed Information Bar now uses dynamic splitter between Attributes list and Notification Variables list
    • The TrapVision now generates UTF-8 compliant HTML(web) reports
    • The SNMP trap/inform Detailed Information window no longer flickers when the user reselects the SNMP notification which is currently selected

    • The Script language documentation has been significantly updated and improved including script examples.
    • The File IO routines are now fully UNICODE compliant. The following encoding is supported: UTF-8, UTF-16 (both little and big endian)
    • The SetFileEncoding() function has been implemented to specify the type of file encoding
    • The SetUseUnicodeBOM() function has been implemented to specify if BOM (Byte Order Mark) should be used when writing UNICODE-encoded files.
    • The SendMailEx() function has been implemented to support email attachments.
    • The bug in CreateBarChart() function has been fixed.
    • The bug that caused the truncation of text on legend of SVG chart has been fixed.
    • The TraceRoute() function has been implemented to perform an ICMP trace route.
    • The EnumerateSharedResources() function has been implemented to enumerate shared network resouces (MS networking)
    • The atan() function now works as expected
    • The CreateXml() function now supports namespaces
    • The ToXml() function is now capable of converting array data to XML
    • The SendUDPData() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The SendTCPData() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The SendSerialData() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The HttpGet() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The HttpPost() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The WMQPutMessage() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
    • The DOUBLE_QUOTE constant is now a part of script language. So there is no need to define it each time when you need it
    • New cryptography plugin has been implemented
      • The CalculateMD5Hash() function is now a part of this plugin
      • The CalculateMD5Hash() function is now capable of taking byte array as parameter
      • The CalculateMD5Hash() function is now fully UTF-8 compliant
      • The CalculateSHA1Hash() function has been implemented to compute Secure Hash Algorithm 1 (SHA-1) hash
      • The HMAC() function has been implemented to compute hash-based message authentication code. Supports MD-5 and SHA-1 algorithms
      • The BuildKeyFromPassword() function has been implemented to generate key from user password. Supports MD-5 and SHA-1 algorithms
      • The Encrypt() function has been implemented to support CBC-DES and CFB-AES algorithms
      • The Decrypt() function has been implemented to support CBC-DES and CFB-AES algorithms
      • The ByteArrayToHexString() utility function has been implemented to convert byte array to printable hex string
      • The CRC32() function has been implemented to compute Cyclic Redundancy Check (32 bit)
      • The CRC16() function is now a part of this plugin
      • The Base64Encode() and Base64Decode() functions are now part of this plugin
      • The HexStringToByteArray() function is now a part of this plugin
